Projects & Clients: Case Histories
The Center has provided consulting and technical support to improve assessment and accountability systems for over half of the 50 states. We have also provided similar consultation to the U.S. Department of Education, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and other governmental and non-profit agencies.
Success Stories
The work we do for our clients is often coordinated across a number of related tasks. Such coordinated work is best captured in case histories that provide context to the services we provide. The case histories below highlight the web of services and illustrate the many ways in which we have helped our clients.
Success Story No. 1: Design and Implementation of Large Assessment and Accountablity Program
Louisiana implemented state-wide school standards in 1998, along with a strong school accountability system. The Center for Assessment has been involved every step of the way, helping Louisiana develop and implement its programs coherently over more than eight years.
Success Story No. 2:
Support of a Successful Technical Advisory Committee
The New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) brings together New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont in new assessments grades 3-high school. The Center supports the states through a number of ways, including managing the NECAP Technical Advisory Committee.
Success Story No. 3: Provide technical assistance around growth models for school accountability
The Center provided key technical assistance to states, CCSSO, and the U.S. Department of Education on how to conceptualize, design, implement, and review the quality of systems to use student longitudinal growth data for school accountability.
