NCME has begun work on producing the Fifth Edition of Educational Measurement, considered the bible in the field since the first edition was published by the American Council on Education in 1951. Previous editions of Educational Measurement contained chapters regarded as foundational works in our field such as Angoff’s Scales, Norms, and Equivalent Scores (2nd Edition) and Messick’s Validity (3rd Edition).
We are humbled that Scott was asked to join former Center board member Suzanne Lane in writing the chapter on Validity in Educational Measurement and Charlie DePascale was asked to join Sue Brookhart in writing the chapter on Assessment to Inform Teaching and Learning. Leslie Keng will serve as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the fifth edition.
Center board members also play a major role in the project beginning with Linda Cook who is serving as editor of the volume along with Mary Pitoniak. Board member Henry Braun is an author of the chapter on Assessment in International Contexts and board member Lorrie Shepard is a reviewer of the chapter on Fairness in Educational Measurement.
