Designing Accountability Systems That Comply With NCLB

Synopsis:

This presentation at the CCSSO Large-scale Assessment Conference examined the federal No Child Left Behind accountability requirements from the perspective of the design principles outlined in a recent publication by Gong-CCSSO. Alternative designs for meeting the intent of NCLB were examined in three areas: inclusion, method for setting intermediate AYP goals, and assigning assistance and sanctions.
