Vertically Articulated Content Standards – Lessons Learned

This presentation, made at the Center’s 2004 RILS conference, provides an overview of criteria, procedures, and learnings from work with several different states in designing and prioritizing developmentally appropriate Grade Level Expectations (GLEs) for large-scale assessment. Included in the discussion are: unique considerations of each discipline; prioritization strategies; and ways to inform test specifications throughout the development process (Distribution of Emphasis, applying Depth of Knowledge – Levels of Complexity, and identifying the DOK ceilings and range for assessment).
