State leaders have long recognized the value of statewide assessments. But would states keep testing if enforcement diminishes or disappears, as part of the new administration’s promise to downsize its role in K-12 schools and “send education back to the states”? Should states keep testing?
Join us as we explore the purposes and uses of statewide testing data and make the case that states should continue testing students regardless of whether the federal law is enforced.

Our aspiration for this internal event is to foster the intellectual curiosity, innovative thinking, and respectful discourse that Brian models. Our staff focuses on a topic that may be outside of their expertise but is likely to have a significant impact in our field of work. We spend one year gathering information on the topic, and we invite experts to join us for the colloquium to share information and engage in discussions.
