What does it take to implement more balanced assessment systems?  (Webinar)

February 12 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm EST

The Center for Assessment and the National Academy of Education invite you to join us for a webinar to explore the resources and practical advice provided in the recently published Implementing Balanced Assessment Systems: A Practical Guidebook for Districts & Schools

We’ll explore ways district and school leaders can investigate threats to balanced assessment systems and use open-access resources to take practical next steps to improve their local assessment systems.

The book describes common threats to balanced assessment systems and provides practical next steps, open-access resources, and district and state stories of working towards more balanced assessment systems. It can help school and district leaders answer questions such as:

  • How balanced is our local assessment system, and how would we know?
  • What might be out of balance with our local system of assessments, given our instructional vision?
  • How could we begin to improve the balance of our local assessment system?

The webinar will feature:

  • Dr. Carla Evans, Associate Director, Center for Assessment
  • Dr. Caroline Wylie, Senior Associate, Center for Assessment
  • Dr. Erika Landl, Senior Associate, Center for Assessment
  • Dr. Amy Berman, Deputy Director, National Academy of Education
  • Dr. Sanée Bell, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, Katy Independent School District (Texas)

The Brian Gong Colloquium

The Brian Gong Colloquium

This annual colloquium is named in honor of Brian Gong, the Center's Co-Founder and former Executive Director. Our aspiration for this internal event is to foster the intellectual curiosity, innovative thinking, and respectful discourse that Brian models. Our staff focuses on a topic that may be outside of their expertise but is likely to have a significant impact in our field of work. We spend one year gathering information on the topic, and we invite experts to join us for the colloquium to share information and engage in discussions.
