State Practices Related to the Use of Student Achievement Measures in the Evaluation of Teachers in Non-Tested Subjects and Grades

This paper summarizes current state practices related to the collection and use of student achievement measures for teacher evaluation in non-tested subjects and grades (NTSG). It highlights key areas of variability across states and districts with respect to the tools, measures and procedures used to establish and attribute estimates of student growth to educators, and the degree of local control afforded to districts in designing and implementing teacher evaluation systems for NTSG.
