Local Assessment Toolkit: Exploring Cognitive Rigor

As states and schools begin a transition to the adoption of the Common Core State Standards, they will need to come to a shared agreement on what increased cognitive rigor really looks like for instruction, curriculum, and assessment. These materials have been used in several presentations since 2009, including a CCSSO presentation (June 2010) and with schools or school districts in NY City, WY, NE, WA, and AK. A paper, PowerPoint, and several templates are provided as workshop handouts.
